Eat & Drink

“Atmospheric coaching inn, with fantastic local food, a good bar with a roaring fire and comfortable rooms.”

Our menus are all about great quality, locally sourced, simple rustic food. Wherever possible we use local producers, supporting rare heritage breeds and farmers that care about what they’re doing.

From 8am every day we serve our guests and locals alike French Press coffees and the finest English breakfast.

We’ve worked side by side with UE Coffee, the only artisan wood-fired coffee roastery in the UK, whose Master Roasters combine their talent and experience to bring out the optimum taste, aroma and colour to create The Lucky Onion’s truly unique and sustainable house blend of beans from Brazil, Costa Rica and India. Cherish each sip at The Wheatsheaf or grab and go with your coffee of choice in one of our biodegradable, takeaways cups.

At lunchtime pop in for a quick pie and a pint by the fire or sit back and relax with a bottle of red wine at supper.

With a private dining room for up to 20 guests, feast like there is no tomorrow with large sharing pies and whole cuts of meat served family style at the table.

Where to park:

Whether you are joining us for supper, or staying the night in our hotel, there is parking towards the rear of the building, just look for the driveway next to the entrance to the Inn.

Here’s the low down on a few of our favourite things to do nearby:

The Wheatsheaf Inn, in the quintessentially English village of Northleach is the perfect spot to explore the glorious Cotswolds countryside from. In the village itself, there is a butcher, a baker but no candlestick maker and then a little further afield, some of our favourite things to do:

Cheer on your favourite horse at the Gold Cup at Cheltenham Racecourse, waterski backwards at Cotswold Water Park, do the doggie paddle in Cheltenham Lido, roar with the lions at Cotswolds Wildlife Park, watch Polo at Cirencester Polo Club, visit the home of one of Henry VIII’s wives at Sudeley Castle

Shop in Cheltenham at the Union Project, Olive, Keith Scarrott or Pink Vintage

Oggle at the art in Cheltenham’s The Wilson Gallery and Paragon Gallery

Shoot clays with Olympic coach Ian Coley, cheer on the players at Gloucester Rugby Club

Collect seeds from Stanway House Gardens, run naked through Chastleton House Gardens or Hidcote Manor Gardens or climb the adventure playground at the home of Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace
